Tour of Great America Qinghai STAGE 5: Climb over winter trees and compete in the Queen Stage

On July 10, the competition between Qilian and Gangcha, the fifth stage of the 2025 "ICBC Cup" 24th Tour of America Qinghai International Road Cycling Race, ended.

The fifth stage is 169 kilometers in total, with 3 climbing points and 1 sprint point on the way. After setting off, there is a nearly 30-kilometer long climb to the Dadongshu Pass. It climbs directly from 2,800 meters above sea level to 3,800 meters above sea level. After crossing the Dadongshu Pass, it reaches a 50-kilometer long gentle descent. The average altitude is 3,200 meters. The thin air makes the climb stage even more difficult for the riders. Then we came to the second climbing point at an altitude of 3800 meters, followed by 40 kilometers of ups and downs. A WorldTour racing team and eight intercontinental professional teams frantically screened the main car group, showing the highest level of competition in domestic events.

After Cyrus served Jonas in the second stage, he firmly chose to ride with the track super rider in this stage. In the end, Xie Daochao followed the main group up to the top of the last climbing point.

Team manager Li Fuyu said: "Chinese driver Xie Daochao performed very well. He just lacks the experience in plateau areas. Through more training in the future, Xie Daochao will make more progress."

The overall race conditions of this stage showed that due to the long distance and difficult climb, many crashes occurred. The members of the Phoenix Phoenix-SCOM-Hengxiang Intercontinental Team completed the race safely and successfully under difficult plateau conditions.
