-Tour of Thailand Road Cycling Race·Fifth Stage-

On March 28, the Tour of Thailand ushered in the fifth stage.

The starting and finishing points are located in Sa Kaew, the capital of Sa Kaew Province, Thailand. The stage is 136.2 kilometers in total. There are three sharp turns before the finish line, requiring a technical flat road sprint.
The Phoenix Phoenix Scom Hengxiang Intercontinental Racing Team is aiming for a large group sprint to the finish line in this stage. In the first half of the race, Chinese driver Gao Yongbing joined the early breakout group and finished fourth at the first sprint point.
Before the round-the-island race, Gao Yongbing tempered his condition and physical strength by breaking through.
After the first sprint point on the way, the front of the main car group pulled and changed the line, and the driver in yellow jersey joined the leading group of more than 10 people. After that, Huang Shi's departure improved the overall pace of the race. The main car group finished the race at a speed of 48.403km/h, second only to the first stage.
Phoenix Phoenix Scom Hengxiang Intercontinental Team Cyrus Monk and Ziga Horvat joined this wave of speed increases initiated by the yellow jersey. Ziga Horvat suffered a crash in the second half of the race and was safe.
As the breakout riders were recovered, the big group sprint came as promised. Before the finish line, the Phoenix Phoenix Scom Hengxiang Intercontinental Team pulled out a four-person sprint train. The field was changing rapidly, and the driver in yellow jersey who participated in the breakout earlier was able to get stuck at the first of the last three corners.
In two narrow right-angled corners, Maris led Roy in pursuit at full speed. However, the slightly chaotic sprint around the corners failed to make a perfect start. Maris went all out to finish fourth in the single stop.
The Latvian Cycling Association praised after the game: "Latvian elite road cyclist Maris performed brilliantly in the UCI 2.1 Tour of Thailand held on Friday. The cyclist from Dobele participated in a strong breakout attempt in the fifth stage. Although he was chased back by the main group of bikes, he still finished fourth in the finish sprint. In the overall results list, Maris was temporarily ranked tenth before the last stage."
Li Fuyu, manager of the Phoenix Phoenix Scom Hengxiang Intercontinental Team: "In the fifth stop of the Tour of Thailand, Maris, a member of the Phoenix Phoenix Scom Hengxiang Intercontinental Team, finished fourth, and Roy finished eighth. Ziga crashed, but fortunately no one was injured. The last stop on the 29th, keep trying, the whole process today was really fast!"
